2025 NOAA Enterprise Data Management Workshop

Storms and Seas: Managing NOAA’s Data Assets for Users in a Rapidly Changing World

Aiming to explore the multifaceted aspects of NOAA data management and its role in advancing scientific understanding and impacts to society.

Monday May 19, 2025 5:00pm - 6:30pm EDT
As the impacts of climate change intensify, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-quality, ready-to-use data is crucial for effective adaptation and mitigation. This session will explore the concept of AI-ready climate data - climate datasets that are well-structured, accessible, and enriched for machine learning applications. We invite presentations that discuss how such data can enhance climate resilience through advanced analytics, climate modeling, and real-time monitoring. Participants will hear from successful NOAA case studies where AI-driven initiatives have leveraged AI-ready climate data to support NOAA’s strategic goal of building a Climate-Ready Nation by 2030. Presenters will address how they overcame challenges related to data quality, interoperability, and governance, offering strategies for fostering collaboration between data collectors and AI practitioners.
